Right, so today I've been tagged by Wayne Thomas Batson, author of The Door Within, Rise of the Wyrm Lord, and The Final Storm to post 8 random things about myself. Go check out his site, Enter the Door Within, after of course you check out some trivia about me.

Hmm, eight random things. . .
1.) I nearly didn't survive infancy. Due to a lack of fatty tissue around my brain, (that's right, I was the opposite of 'fathead') when I would get a fever I would go into massive febrile seizures. Through prayer and also medication, that was finally brought under control .. but if I'm a lettle different now you know why!
2.) I came to know Christ when I was four (knelt down in front of a t.v. during a Billy Graham crusade when he gave the call for people to come down and give their lives to Christ)
3.) I have been in private school, public school, and also have been home schooled.
4.)I lived for 3 months in Ireland working as a missionary
5.)I collect signed books and to date have ones from authors Donald J. Sobel, Timothy Zahn, Wayne Thomas Batson, George Bryan Polivka, C.Peter Wagner, Nancy Winslow Parker and Howard Weinstein.
6.) I am addicted to long sharp metal pointy things (mainly swords)
7. I have a boating license and can pilot craft up to 40 feet.
8.) I can read upside down and backwards.

Me too for #3. I've experienced it all and my daughter has now experienced two of the three. She started out in Christian school, now we homeschool. Which did you prefer?
Reading all different directions must make it easy to peek over at someone's magazine in the dentist's office when all the good ones are taken. :)
Homeschooling! Hands down it was the best for me, I learned that education doesn't stop when a bell rings, and that learning shouldn't either. I really do think that homeschooling has made me a 'lifetime student' and I can't imagine anything better than that.
Yup, though the reading skill also comes in handy when you want to know what the teacher is writing on your paper. ;)
I'm hoping to homeschool all the way through highschool. My daughter loves it and so do I. Colleges are getting easier for homeschooled kids to get into nowadays.
A student of life is exactly what I'm hoping to show her. I personally hope to never stop learning.
When school and learning and fun begin to blur, that is the best. I remember going to the local art museum here and not wanting to leave the ARMS & ARMOR exhibit (remember # 6?) So, Mom switched the study for that day and we stayed the entire time down in the lovely basement of the museum pouring over the exhibit. And then, the next week we came back with several co-op families and sketched the armor for (history and art) We designed our own coat of arms (social science and history), we checked out "CASTLE" by David Macaulay (reading and history), we made some medieval treats( history and home ec), we learned about the black plague (history and science). And it was then that I really fell in love with learning. I couldn't get enough and from then on I have absolutely loved learning---when I can do it on my terms. ;)
That's amazing! You definitely had a very loving and dedicated mom.
I'm really flexible too. I try to do whatever works best for us. I latch on to whatever grabs her interest and brush aside for later the things that she isn't at least a little into. I also try to find new and creative ways of presenting the information. I'm a hands-on mom to begin with. I just hope it'll translate over to teacher.

Scribe, that's interesting about your nearly not surviving infancy. I was in a similar situation. Born 6 weeks premature--not a big deal now, but in 1968, scary. I was a lovely azure to royal blue color at birth and requires a series of blood transfusions. Doctors were afraid I might not grow the way a normal child develops, that I might be smallish. So much for that, eh?
God clearly had a plan for you, Scribe. I for one am glad He pulled you through.
I honestly can look back at my life and at all the stupid choices I've made and how many dangerous situations (whether I realized it or not at the time) I survived unscathed, I can see God's hand clearly carrying me through. I'm only whole because of Him. He's filled in the gaping holes in my broken humanness.
We can all see Him rescuing us repeatedly if we look closely enough.
