According to the bank clock across the street from where I work it was 89 degrees today, and the thermostat inside the store read 85 degrees. Our antique air conditioner isn't cutting it in this heat. It can't cool the store and as a result I've told staff there (myself included) not to worry about dress code and to wear t-shirts. There's no other way to beat the heat and we are stacking the paperbacks like cord wood and piling concordances on top of them to press them flat again. Remember what I said about the optimum temperature for keeping books at their best? Well this is what happens when you can't maintain that 75 degrees of temperature. It was slow today too, and we got children's books inventoried as well as family, counseling, bible reference , and concordances finished. Also, I had to call tech support and sit in the stifling heat of the office to talk with the lovely tech support person (we really do love her, she's the best ever) and try several different things none of which worked. Through out the whole day, my mind was on the upcoming signing. It's as bad as my birthday or Christmas Eve! I can't help bouncing up and down with anticipation now and wondering what is going to happen. Hey, that's better than the dreaded knot in my stomach which is happening less and less, even when people tell me they can't come. Hopefully by the time the event is here, it will be all excitement and no wrenching gut.
Now, I'm off to ink some paper things with designs. Nice and vague still, don't you think?

Today I had someone ask me if I intended to give what I made for the signing to the authors. And before I could say 'yeah' they offered "Because if not, or if they don't want them, I'll take em all."
Which makes me feel good about what I made but then I'm going "If the authors don't want em?" ;) I know Wayne'll take his and if push came to shove he'd give em all a home. Ah well, we'll see on Saturday if anyone says 'no thanks'
Hehe - I thought about making something for the authors, but I couldn't think of what.
The only problem, really, is I haven't read anything of Wayne's, Christopher's, or Sharon's yet. So I really wouldn't know what to make for them....

I thought about making keychains, but I'm not sure if the guys would like that.
Trust me, anything that you make they will adore. Why? Because that's the kinda people they are.
You could do pouches too if you are sewing inclined. But really anything that you make they will love.
I am sewing inclined, however my sewing machines are in storage until I can get my own apartment :( So, no sewing for me. *sniff*
We'll see. I'll come up with something :)
And they will love it. I'll have to remember to ask to see the gifts when you come down my way ;) You'll definitely see mine no problem.
Heh. I'm almost finished with mine. I went to the store today to get some materials, but I didn't get enough, so I have to go back for more in the morning.
Oho, and are you going to be as evil as me and only HINT till you have pictures of them adoring the gifts?

Meh, they're pretty simple, though. Not as elaborate as your artwork, but I'm pleased with them nonetheless.
Indeed, the summer heat can be quite problematic in the workplace, especially when one has to move around. It gets even worse if you have a broken AC reminding you of how hot things are...
