What Do You Listen To When You Write?

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Sneak another peak

Remember I told you to put on your artistic helmets and help me make some decisions about the props? You didn't think I'd find your artistic helmets, but I did and now I have another question to put to you long suffering fans.

Which looks better? Again, I'm going to use one of them just to have lying about, you need to help me pick the color though. The brown cloth is down on the counter just because I wanted something there. I still haven't decided. The box and the cup will likely be used too. I love my cup. Or is it a flaggon? No, that's not the write word. Chalice? Yeah, I think it's a chalice. Anyway, look at the helmets and help me decide which one to use. Remember the book is green, and the candlesticks are bronze-brown. So should I use this helmet?

Or should I go with this one?

Here they are together, from another angle.

Not a bad find for $1.00 a piece. I've all ready started using one.

Now you just wait, someone'll want to buy it. Everyone always wants my props. I usually wind up giving them to m'lord Batson to be used or given away as he wishes.

And you see what's creeping out onto the endcap? Uh-huh, books neither of these two dangerous individuals have penned. Why? Well because m'lord Batson's books keep selling and I need to fill the holes. Besides, I figured the guys don't mind giving a little bit of a boost to other authors who aren't selling as well as they are.

You have a cool job :P
I like both helmets but if I had to choose one, I'd say go with the second one.
And, what is the book at the bottom-left corner?

Thanks Chris! Yeah, the job can be pretty sweet at times. I really do love it!

As for the book, it's the second in the DreamHouse Kings series, "Watcher In the Woods" by Robert Liparulo. It's a different kind of fantasy involving a family and the strange and rather dark things that happen in the house that they recently moved into. :-D It's one of my favorites and most of the readers of it can't wait for the next book. Try and find it at your local bookstore and if you're short on cash, try the library. The series so far is:

The House of Dark Shadows
Watcher in the Woods
Gatekeepers
Timescape
