A Parthian Shot

Well done Archers! Keep praying, as now Christopher and Wayne have only a handful of hours before the fun and frenzy begin!

For those that have been nudging and nosing about the event with Bryan Davis, we might well have a web cast thanks to Connie, she and I are in the process of working that out. Keep checking back here for details!

Now back to Christopher and Wayne.

I came across more interesting factoids about archery this morning and they determined the direction of this next post. Most of you probably all ready know about the Parthian Shot, but for those that don't, here's what it is:

It is the shot fired while the archer feigns retreat. The Parthians perfected this and in battle would act as if they were running away and then fire as the opposing army pursued them. This was done from the back of a horse, so that the archer was riding foreword while looking back and causing damage to the enemy.

I didn't have a whole lot of time to dig up the facts on the Parthians or the phrase but you can check out the wiki and see what it has to say if you want to learn more. What I was interested in was the whole 'riding one way and firing the other' which is rather incredible.

In that same way, today I'm going to ask those that are all ready praying ahead for Wayne and Christopher's signing, to 'turn in the saddle' and fire off a volley of arrow prayers for their families while at the same time, still praying for the signing.

That's right, I want you to fire your prayers foreword, and in reverse. I know that you archers are up for the challenge!

Father as Christopher and Wayne move to set up for the signing and to enjoy meeting and greeting fans both new and seasoned, I ask today that you be especially with their families. Be with their wives, bless and keep the work of their hands and strengthen them as the sacrifice having their husbands home so they can do and serve You. I ask that you bless their sons and daughters, that you would keep them safe, that you would give them sweet sleep, that you would kindle their own dreams and talents and that their hunger for You would grow day by day. Thank you for their sacrifice of time with their dads, and may they have a double portion of blessing for sharing them with so many other youngbloods that don't have dads as godly as their own.

In Christ's name I pray, Amen.

Dear Jesus You know that WTB, and CH, are striving to write books for you. The CotSK has already come out but their work load has not lessened. Please make them prioritize to make time for their familys. The family is at the core of Godlyness help them keep the correct perspective. Don't let their fever for writing to overbear the the things that "really" matter to you. Give them wisdom and inspiration for their upcoming books. Don't let them sacrifice humor or scruples for readers or even grow lax in their spiritual awareness. Protect them God and bless them in a portion as they serve you.

In Jesus name amen
